Everything First-Time Visitors Need to Know About Udaipur Airport

Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur is one of those rare airports that actually feels welcoming. It is small, well-maintained and easy to navigate. But if this is your first time landing here, a little context goes a long way.

The airport itself

The airport is located in Dabok, about 22 kilometres from the city centre. It has one terminal that handles both arrivals and departures. You will clear baggage claim quickly because the airport is compact and the conveyor belt is just a short walk from the aircraft. Do not expect a long wait.

There is a small food court and a few shops airside, but do not rely on them for a full meal. Most travellers head straight into the city.

Getting out of the airport

This is where things can get confusing for first-time visitors. As you exit the arrivals area, you will be approached by several cab drivers offering rides into the city. The rates they quote are rarely fixed and negotiating while tired after a flight is not something anyone wants to do.

The better option is to book your cab in advance. When you book with Aavre, your driver knows your flight details, your name is confirmed and the rate is fixed before you land. You walk out, your cab is there and you are on your way. The airport transfer is a flat Rs 499 to anywhere in the city.

Flight timings

Udaipur is connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Bangalore and a few other cities. IndiGo and Air India operate the most frequent routes. Flights tend to arrive in clusters, which means the taxi queue outside can get busy at certain times of day. Pre-booking removes this variable entirely.

When to book your cab

Book at least two hours before your flight lands. This gives your driver enough time to prepare and ensures your ride is confirmed before you touch down. A quick WhatsApp message is all it takes.

The drive into the city

The road from the airport to the city centre passes through some genuinely beautiful Rajasthani countryside. It takes between 30 and 45 minutes depending on traffic, and the approach into Udaipur offers your first glimpse of the Aravalli hills surrounding the city. It is a good introduction.
